Our Position

One child out of 10 children born is reported to have some neuro-development need or neurological illness. Children with neuro-developmental needs require facilities which would enhance their development; Developmental Paediatrics and Child Neurology at PIMS provides care for such children, support their parents and offer training for professionals.

 Our Vision:

We are called to receive children as a gift from God and to accompany them by being in partnership with their parents through creating an environment of resources - medical, developmental, educational, social and emotional.

 Our Mission:

We aim to ‘take sides’ of children with neuro-developmental needs or neurological illness and create awareness about their special needs. We are committed to work as a team, and foster personal and professional development of each other in the team. We desire to work ‘restfully’ and to seek ‘fullness’ of life for ourselves and for others, whom we seek to serve.

Our Direction:

We look forward to offering services for children- Child Development Center, Early Learning             Centre, and a Hall of Residence for short term stay for children with neuro developmental needs and a Day Care for educational advancement of children with different abilities.

We hope to activate a Distance Developmental Monitoring for children who cannot visit us frequently and a Developmental Surveillance programme for children who visit us from Puducherry and nearby places.

We shall explore involvement with parents by offering them respite care, support during their grieving process, or crisis times.

We want to be pro-active in our advocacy for children with developmental needs by helping them achieve their full potential, by being in partnership with schools, educational policy makes etc.

We want to be mindful of special needs of, children in residential schools, children of single parents, children suffering from terminal illness, children taken in adoption and parents’ considering adoption.

we hope to enlarge our team with professionals from disciplines of Paediatrics, Psychology occupational, Physical and Speech therapy, Special Education, Counseling, etc.,

We desire to equip professionals in Developmental Psychology and Developmental Paediatrics by organizing formal and non-formal training programme.

We plan to pursue need based research and use creative ways to prevent neuro-developmental insults in children and to work towards overcoming the impact of insults in children as and when they occur.

We are engaging other medical colleges in this region to promote child development activities.
