Department of Pharmacology is well-equipped as per the MCI norms for teaching the M.B.B.S students. Faculty members are actively involved in research in pharmacoepidemiology. The department is also trying for Collaboration with Pharmaceutical companies for conducting Clinical Trials.

The Department of Pharmacology is headed by an able and experienced teacher who is also a retired Director of Medical Education, Tamil Nadu, Dr. J.R. Vijayalakshmi, MD (Pharmacology with 37 years of teaching under-graduates and postgraduates in Pharmacology.

Dr. C.H Shashidran, the chief of Clinical Pharmacology was formerly the Director-Professor and Head of the Department from JIPMER with rich teaching and research experience. He is also a reputed teacher of Medical education, research methodology and ethics.

All the other faculty members have a very rich teaching experience both in India and Abroad. They have a number of National and International publications to their credit.
