Department of Cardiology

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and staffed with highly qualified medical personnel, the Cardiology Department of PIMS is the Cardiac Centre par excellence.

Each of the seven beds in the Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) is staffed with trained nurses on a 1:1 basis and has facilities for monitoring ECG, Hemodynamics, Oxygen saturation and respiration with a team of Physician / cardiologist in constant attendance. Bedside echo cardiography, X-rays, Temporary pacing, mechanical ventilators and Intra-aortic Ballon Counter Pulsation (IABP) support are also available here. The ICCU handles a host of Cardiac emergencies such as acute MI, heart failure, Cardiogenic shock and Life threatening arrhythmias.

The department is equipped with the most modern Colour Doppler Echo Cardiography System. By this, both anatomical and physiological functions of the heart can be repeatedly assessed without any pain or discomfort.

Availiability of the modern exercise treadmill system enables evaluation of chest pain and also helps in identification of severity of Coronary Artery Disease to a great extent.

Invasive cardiac evaluation and treatment is carried out, with axiomartis the most modern Siemens digitalized cardiac Catheterisation laboratory. This is capable of carrying out all diagnostic Catheterisation and interventional procedures like Coronary and Peripheral Angioplasty (PTCA) / Stenting, Ballon Valvulo plasties, Pacemaker Implantations and closure of PDAs and ASDs.
